In PolyPlan, we’ve designed intuitive ways for you to move tasks seamlessly through your different timeline views, ensuring your plan always reflects your reality.

Method 1: The Quick Move Menu (with Keyboard Shortcut)

When you know exactly where a task needs to go, whether it's tomorrow or two months from now, the Move menu is your most efficient tool. It's perfect for sending tasks to a specific date or a general future timeframe without needing to navigate away from your current view.

Here’s how to do it:

  1. Click on a single task or hold Ctrl (or Cmd on Mac) while clicking to select multiple tasks.

  2. Initiate the Move:

    • Right-click on any of the selected tasks to open the context menu and choose Move.

    • Alternatively, for an even faster workflow, simply press the M key on your keyboard.

  3. Choose a Destination:

    • Choose a specific date: Opens a calendar for precise placement. Your task will be assigned to the start time at 7:00 AM by default.

    • This week or Next week: Quickly shifts tasks to the upcoming weekly views.

    • This month or Next month: Ideal for longer-term planning.

    • Some day: Moves the task to your "Some day" view, effectively placing it on the back burner without losing track of it.

Method 2: Visual Drag & Drop to the Horizon

For those who prefer a more visual and tactile approach to planning, you can physically drag tasks to different timeframes using the Horizon sections at the top of your view. This method is great for weekly or monthly reorganization where you want to see the view change as you plan.

Follow these steps:

  1. Click and hold on a single task, or select multiple tasks first.

  2. Drag the selected task(s) upwards and hover over one of the sections in the Horizon bar

  3. Hold the tasks over the section for a brief moment. The main view in the background will automatically switch to that corresponding timeline.

  4. With the new view now active, move your cursor down and release the tasks into the specific column you prefer.

By mastering both methods, you can significantly speed up your planning and organization process. Spend less time managing your tools and more time getting things done. Happy planning!
